How to change the oil filter on an '01 Camry without spilling oil?

On the 2001 Camry, the oil filter sits near the front of the engine on a downward angle. Every time I unscrew the filter, a bunch of oil just spills out on the front of the engine (because of the downward angle).





Is there a way to fully drain the oil filter or unscrew this so I don't have the unnecessary clean up?How to change the oil filter on an '01 Camry without spilling oil?
Sometimes, punching a hole in the filter will allow it to drain (the air replaces the oil). Also try wrapping a rag around the base of the filter before unscrewing it. Terrible design on toyota's part.How to change the oil filter on an '01 Camry without spilling oil?
let the car sit for a couple of hours b/4 removing filter, this allows the filter to drain all the oil into the engine.
cut a large plastic soda bottle in half use it to catch oil and filter
