absolutley, hand tight is fine. If you need a wrench to tighten an oil filter, then something is way wrong. Been fixing cars for twenty two years, seen a lot of people overtighten oil filters, creates nothing but headaches. If after hand tightening, there is a leak from the filter, the gasket may be pinched, or you may have the wrong filter. Never tighten more than hand tight.Do I need to tighten my oil filter with a oil filter wrench?
Hand tighten and then turn 1/4 turn tighter. This is written right on the oil filter boxes.
NEVER Back off a ';Tad';
Just hand tightened
Yes, in fact they recommend you do that...you don't want to try taking off a filter that has been tightened to tight...it is very hard to do.
You need to hand tighten it and then about 1/4 more with and oil filter wrench is what is specified by the dealer
ugh yeah if he had a good grip on it
Hand tighten it snug, then back off a ' tad '.
Just take a good look at it after running the engine and if there are no leaks, then it is good enough.
yes on the filter box it tells you to hand tighten only. about 1 an half turns if i remember correctly but out of ha pit aim guilty of touching it with filter wrench not suppose to but i do
