Do I need to tighten my oil filter with a oil filter wrench?

I'm not 100% sure if they're called oil filter wrenches lol. But if you know what I'm talking about. I had like three of them in my garage, but I've seemed to have lost them. My daddy hand tightened it; is that good enough?Do I need to tighten my oil filter with a oil filter wrench?
absolutley, hand tight is fine. If you need a wrench to tighten an oil filter, then something is way wrong. Been fixing cars for twenty two years, seen a lot of people overtighten oil filters, creates nothing but headaches. If after hand tightening, there is a leak from the filter, the gasket may be pinched, or you may have the wrong filter. Hand tighten and then turn 1/4 turn tighter. This is written right on the oil filter boxes.

Yes, in fact they recommend you do that...you don't want to try taking off a filter that has been tightened to tight...it is very hard to do.
You need to hand tighten it and then about 1/4 more with and oil filter wrench is what is specified by the dealer

Just take a good look at it after running the engine and if there are no leaks, then it is good enough.
yes on the filter box it tells you to hand tighten only. about 1 an half turns if i remember correctly but out of ha pit aim guilty of touching it with filter wrench not suppose to but i do
