I'm pretty sure your car doesn't use the old-fashioned type of filter these other people are talking about. Should be a round access plate on the bottom of your oil pan. Usually some sort of regular wrench to take that off, albeit a larger Metric size. Then there's a cartridge filter up inside the hole under that. It looks like this;

You might want to have somebody who's familiar with this kind of setup help you, if you've never even done a normal oil change before.What tool is required to remove oil filter for my 2007 camry V6?
I believe you have a small oil filter on that motor,so go to the auto parts store or wal - marts and get a small oil filter wrenchto remove the filter.warm up your engine ,but not to hot just so it will drain easier,be sure to put so oil on the rubber seal,before reinstalling the filter for a good sealPut the oil filter on by hand and tighten it up then get your oil filter wrench and turn it 1 half turn more.Now be sure to put the oil plug back into the pan.
As others have answered if you have a spin on oil filter a cheap filter wrench will assist you in removing it if you cannot get it off by hand. As a veteran of many self oil changes with both foreign and domestic vehicles do your homework first. Find out if you have a spin on or cartridge oil filter. If you have a cartridge filter it may be better to take it to your dealer one more time and ask them if you can watch while they change it out. That way you can watch the process for removing the cartridge if you have one so you will be familiar with it before trying it yourself. If you have a spin on filter check the clearances under the engine and make sure that you can adequately get to the filter and get it off. Once that's done make sure you have enough oil including the half a quart or so that your filter will need during the change. Get the correct filter for your car also double check that if needed. There's nothing worse than realizing that someone gave you the wrong filter for your car when you have everything apart. Put your car up on ramps and chock the back wheels or use jack stands. Use the correct socket to remove the drain plug. Your engine should not be hot when you do this but you also don't want it cold either. I usually let mine run if the air temperature outside is under 80 degrees for about 2 minutes. Just long enough to get things flowing but not long enough to burn you when you take the plug out. Remove your plug (with the car off) and let the oil drain. I usually let mine drain for about 20 minutes or until there is nothing left coming out of the pan at all. Take your filter off. As soon as you remove your filter wipe around the gasket on the car with a clean rag and remove any oil from around it. Get your new filter and put a light coating of fresh oil around the rubber gasket on the new filter. I also pre-fill my filter meaning that I put a small amount of oil down in my filter before putting it on the car. Usually about half full. Then hand tighten your filter on to the car. Reinstall your drain plug being careful to thread it on correctly. Place the proper amount of oil in the car then start it let it run for about 2 minutes and make sure you have oil pressure. Get back under the car and check for any leaks. If there are no leaks and you have good pressure then you are good to go!
uh, you could use a band wrench if it is on really tight but you should be able to do it by hand. don't do it when the car is hot htough or the hot oil will burn you. also you should put a bit of oil on the gasket on the new filter with your finger before you install it to ensure a good seal.

if a band wrench doesnt get it off you can stab a scewdriver into the side of it and use it to increase the leverage to turn the thing and unscrew it.
if your strong...just your hand

if you cant twist it off then you can get a oil filter remover tool from autozone...prolly 10 bucks..its just a strap that contracts on the filter...allows more torque on the filter.

the most savage way...but funnest...jab a screwdriver into the side of the filter...and use it to pry the filter off.

it simple..dont be timid..

p.s. make sure when you put the new oil filter on that you oil the seal on the filter. you do this by putting some oil on your finger and rubbing a thin line of oil on the mating surface...

make sure the car is cold too...or ull get burned by the engine oil...ive experienced it.

good luck..
You should be able to use your hand. If not, then screw buying any tools for it. If it gives me trouble, I use a little trick (not really a trick) to get the oil filter off. Take a screw driver, and punch it sideways through the oil filter. You can now use this for leverage. Turn counterclockwise until it comes off.. make sure to drain all the oil first, but still be prepared for oil to come gushing out. Watch your eyes!!!
An oil filter removal tool. It consists of a strong rubber strip attached to a steel handle. You put the strip round the filter, adjust it to the size of the filter, insert it into the handle and then turn.

Like your thinking trish! Nice to see a girl who knows these things better than some of the boys..
go to any parts store and get just a universal oil filter wrench
