Is it possible to change the oil on a car and not change the oil filter?

What are the potential problems that might happen if the oil filter wasn't changed but the oil was during an oil change? Is it possible to change the oil on a car and not change the oil filter?
Yes, but you car will not have sufficient protection as with a new filter. If you like spending money on new engines or new vehicles, then fine. A filter that is half way blocked with debris will not last long as the new oil will soon not be able to pass through the filter and the engine will soon wear out. A couple of thousand miles, maybe more, but to be honest, only a fool would attempt it.

Good Luck.

Dr AntonyIs it possible to change the oil on a car and not change the oil filter?
Yes it is possible. However the new oil's potential will not be out to use as the old filter clogs the system of the old dirt. If you can buy new oil, why not also put a little extra for the new filter. as to the dangers of it, I haven't encountered it yet as I simultaneously change the oil and the filter.
What's the point of changing your oil if you're going to do a half-fast job?

Oils collect contaminants over time including dirt, metal particles, and acids - all of which cause engine wear. Leaving the filter leaves a filter full of dirty oil and a filter full of stuff that you don't want leaching back into your fresh oil.

Filters also have a bypass valve that opens when the filter becomes clogged enough to restrict the flow. That effectively gives you no filtering whatsoever.

Filters are cheap. Engines ain't.

Don
Anything is possible!

Why don't you save by just driving your car 6,000mi. between oil changes, then you'll save on oil too!

Which is cheaper the oil or the oil filter?

The oil filter, so your going to be there so why not do them both?

The answer too your question is yes

the average oil filter was designed too last two oil change intervals.

with no problems (its just not recommended anymore)

Because of the stupid people-It's a long story-the old time techs' will know what I mean.
im not a mechanic but changing oil without changing ur oil filter should be ok but depending on wen is da last time u change da oil filter.....it only cost less den $10 and do it urself...it's easy actually i just did my oil change...i use Mobil 1 fully synthetic oil and Mobil 1 oil filter...my oppinion i say it's better off doin da complete oil change cuz after miles of running da filter gets clogged up and it wont perform da way it suppose to....full oil change recommend: fresh oil, and oil filter plus u can change da drain plug but i didnt if it dont need to, 3k-5k miles depending on ur driving condition... like i said im not a mechanic but i do about 90% of da work myself including full oil change......i say just change da oil filter it only takes a minute........
yes you dont have to change the oild filter every service its just recomended for best preventative maintenance.
Sure, but why would you? Cheap insurance.......
