When i start my engine, the oil filter gasket blows. 93 olds cutlass cruiser?

why would this happen? and i cant find the oil pump, does this car have one? and if so, where is it located? When i start my engine, the oil filter gasket blows. 93 olds cutlass cruiser?
I had a 91 Cutlass that had 78psi oil pressure in the lower end, when tested where the oil pressure sensor is near the oil filter. You most likely have a double gasket. When mine had high pressure on the low end, it had zero getting up top, due to high mileage and the timing gear was actually disintegrating and caused the lifters and pushrods to become clogged and prevent oil flow. If this was your case, you would be mentioning one hell of a racket coming from the heads. Remove your oil filter, and if it does not have a double gasket, try to shine a light up into the oil filter adaptor and make sure the center port and the half moon shaped ports are not clogged. Thsi can also cause the gasket to blow. When i start my engine, the oil filter gasket blows. 93 olds cutlass cruiser?
Is the old rubber gasket stuck to the base.

(two gaskets by accident?)

Every car has an oil pump. Other wise the oil would not flow. You most likely cause for the blown filter gasket is 1 a double gasket, 2 wrong filter, 3 filter is not installed completely / correctly. What you need to do is remove the oil filter and physically check the filter plate on the engine for a gasket. use your hands not your eyes. if there is no gasket present, inspect the filter for damage, if the filter is ok, reinstall the filter and feel the mating surfaces of the filter and filter plate to see if they line up, normally these two surfaces will line up with little difference, if there is a difference then you most likely have the wrong filter. if there is a small gap then the filter in not tightening up properly. if you still have problems then it is likely the filter housing may be damaged. Also the 93 olds cutlass had 3 different options for motors. I would need a motor size to be able to tell you where the pump is located. however it is often very close to the filter housing.
Ya what they said.
Make sure the oil gasket off the old oil filter didn't stick to the engine so that you ended up with two gaskets between the engine block and the new filter.
check and make sure the gasket off of the old oil filter isnt still stuck to the sealing surface on the block if it is you are stacking gaskets and they will naturally not seal properly. Oil pump is on the inside of the engine in the oil pan.
The oil pump is located inside the oil pan (sump), so you can't see it. I'd say you either have 2 oil filter gaskets on the car, or the oil pressure valve is stuck closed. Or possibly the internal oil galleries are clogged, causing an over-pressure situation.

Good luck!
