Best oil and oil filter brand to buy?

I have a 96 corolla with 122,000 miles on it.

I was wondering what brand of oil and oil filter i should buy. What grade for the oil: 5w 30, 10w 30? And should i buy synthetic and/or high mileage oil?Best oil and oil filter brand to buy?
I WOULD RECOMMEND CASTROL MOTOR OIL, ANY BRAND OF FILTER WILL WORK,THEY ARE ALL THE SAME. I WOULD NOT GO WITH A SYNTHETIC, COSTS MORE THEN THE REGULAR OIL, NOT REALLY WORTH IT ON AN OLDER CAR WITH A LOT OF MILESBest oil and oil filter brand to buy?
your car is considered to be a highmileage vehicle, i would think that a castrol high mileage 10w-40 will be great for you

it will also minimise any consumption if you have any

also a good fram+ filtre
synthetic oil is the best. theres tons of brands from pennzoil, mobil 1, to royal purple. etc. Performance oil filters are a joke, they're all the same.. just different colors and a cool ';wrench end filter'; for easy removal.. its so retarted.

Hope the Above Info Helps! What kind of oil filter do I need for a 1999 toyota camry ce 4 cylander?
1999 CAMRY WITH A 4 CYLINDER ENGINE USES GENUINE TOYOTA OIL FILTER #90915YZZF2.YOU COULD FIND IT AT ANY TOYOTA DEALER PARTS DEPARTMENT.
just ask for a F2 oil filter at the dealer parts counter they will know what you mean.

    good luck
Check with Autozone, Advanced Auto, or O'Reillys online......they should have it listed. Probably easier to find if you know the specific engine.....1.8 liter, 2.4, etc. Raise the hood of your car and find this info on a sticker under the hood or on the front top of the radiator support. Wix brand filters are good, but i like the Fram too, it has an ';easy grip'; coating on it nowadays which makes it a whole lot easier to change. Good Luck!!
My 2005 camry XLE, so i used any of oil filter that match with my car from wal-mart or any autopart. Ask service guy for sure before buy it. I usually used the cheap one and replace any time of oil change. Should not think too much about oil filter, you can do as same as my way.

Where is oil filter located on 2001 cavalier?

I checked all over the right side of the lower engine block where its located on my 95 car. So they either moved the filter between 95 %26amp; 01 or they dont have a filter on here. I think they must've moved it. Its a 2.2 liter OHV; the same thing they been using in cavaliers.Where is oil filter located on 2001 cavalier?
Yep, you can't see it if you don't know where to look. From the passenger side of the car leaning in from the fender, follow the v- belt to the back of the engine bay, you can just see the butt of the filter if you look straight down along the engine, from the bottom of the car reaching up (right hand) just above of the drive shaft of the right wheel and just behind the power steeing fluid lines. You'll need a filter cap type wrench to remove the oil filter and a very small socket wrench to turn it. It is a very small filter with very little room to get it off with out spilling its contents down on you. Wait till you have to change the radiator hoses!!!!!!!!!!!

Good Luck...Where is oil filter located on 2001 cavalier?
uh dude you drive a chick car!?!?!?!

no wonder you can't find the filter!!!!

do you know where to put the gas?
check between the top ridge of the oil pan and the exhaust manifold
This is a hard one to reach. If you feel the back of the moter at the mid center you will find it. Reach in from the passenger side. Good luck!
Look where the dipstisk goes into the engine, there is a black cap about 3'; around right behind it. The filter is under that cap. Use a 1 1/4'; socket and slightly loosen the cap. If you keep loosening it with the socket on, it (the socket) will end up hitting the bottom of the intake manifold. It's a Fram #9018 oil filter and is usually $7 dollars or so at the parts store. Make sure that you put a little oil on the green o-ring that's around that cap before you put it back in so it doesn't seize up on you.
if its got an ecotech, its to the right of the intake inside a canister,11/4'; socket will reveal it.if its got a 2.2L,its on the back of the engine about 4'; above oil pan

Having a problems with my oil filter lines for my 99 s-10 zr2. They leak and I need to know if this is common.

Is this easy to fix, and how much would it cost?Having a problems with my oil filter lines for my 99 s-10 zr2. They leak and I need to know if this is common.
Oh man, you too! I have a 98 S-10 for wheel driver with 32,000 original miles and it came with the heavy duty oil cooling system. I had an oil pressure line go bad @28,000. I know for sure GM (Chevrolet) gets in your sneakers to the tune of $325.00 to just replace the hose that's bad. You can do it yourself but you're stuck buying the hose at your Chevrolet dealer.Having a problems with my oil filter lines for my 99 s-10 zr2. They leak and I need to know if this is common.
yes it is very common. Every one of those leak. I would not do it yourself though. The engine most likely may need to be moved out of the way (jacked to one side). About $200-$300 to have done at a garage.
i have replaced more then i can count. sometimes you have to pry the engine over but not too tough

Changing an oil filter on a generator?

The oil filter is being changed for the 1st time, it is so tight that the wrench won't even buget it. Apparently torqued too tight at the factory. I'm afraid I'll end up crushing it, before getting it loose.Changing an oil filter on a generator?
You might try to use a strap type oil filter wrench. Small filters like on generators don't do well with channel-locks, or buy a socket made for that size filter. It will come off, even if you crush it.

    Good luck.

Can I sue a Oil Change station if my oil filter falls off and my engine locks up?

My car is 7 months old. it has regular oil changes and I don't hot rod around. The dealer says the warranty won't cover this because it was not caused by a mechanical failure. Can I sue a Oil Change station if my oil filter falls off and my engine locks up?
you say your car is 7 months old and you use the phrase that it ';has regular oil changes'; Just how many have you had to have in 7 months? Any way I doubt the oil filter fell off like you say. For the filter to fall off it had to be the wrong one or not on tight. Either way it would have leaked before falling off. It should have been detected at the oil change if not you should have noticed oil in your driveway or garage. I have owned and operated 3 quick lubes for the past 19 years and while I cant say I havent had to pay for some mistakes over the years I can say that an oil filter falling off is not one of them. Nor have I heard of any other shops having this kind of claim. As far as suing, good luck. I know first hand how this stuff works. You are better off to have the place who you think messed up get a hold of their insurance provider and see if they will take responsibilty and pay for anything. But I can tell you you will not get a brand new wngine for nothing. You heard of prorating it is the same thing with your engine if they did indeed mess up they are only responsible for giving you an engine of the same caliber. So dont expect a brand new engine for free. I highly doubt that you will be able to win this case though. Sorry but I just have seen too many scams out there and find it very hard to believe your story. Can I sue a Oil Change station if my oil filter falls off and my engine locks up?
yes. document everything from the previous services to the recent disasterouse service and contact a lawyer to persure legal action.
Did you get it done at Wal-Mart? Because I work there and things like this nature happen once in a while and of course Wal-Mart pays for a new motor or whatever is messed up. We even bought a man a new cell phone because he said one of us stole it and there was never a cell phone in his car when we pulled it into the shop. But I do not advise the try to rip wal-mart off, cuz that sucks for the people that work there.
yes. call the oil change place. if they won't pay then call the bureau of automotive regulations and the better business bureau
you can sue the people who changed the oil and summons the dealer to testify about what caused the engine to quit.
yes, you can, and Jiffy lube has a long sad history of this. in the future, I recommend taking it to a good independant mechanic for oil changes. They are a little more expensive, but well worth it.
Why do you assume you will have to sue? If the oil filter fell off after an oil change, just find what the repair will cost and contact them and see if they are willing to work with you. Most of them have insurance policies in place to cover such things. When was the oil change, and when was the failure? That would make a difference, since if the filter 'fell off' a month later they wouldn't be responsible for that.
Try talking to the oil change station -- if it's their fault - they may settle with you; WITHOUT a lawsuit being filed.
all oil change places have to carry insurance just for these kinds of problems, they will have coverage for your breakdown.have the dealer contact them as the dealer will more than likely do the work so you retain your warranty.

You should always use the dealer till warranty is up for oil changes so they cant say you neglected you servicing
